Think in terms of the product outcome
Extrusion is a processing platform rather than a guarantee that a single line can make every food. Start with the desired shape, texture, ingredient composition, moisture and intended use.
Ask about the complete line
Discuss the extruder configuration, available dies, feeding, conditioning, drying, cutting and any finishing equipment. A proposal should address the full process needed for your product.
Use trials to answer specific questions
A trial should have a written brief and measurable acceptance criteria. Record the inputs, outputs and evaluation method. Commercial throughput, yield and cost should follow validated results.
Agree the partnership model
Set out responsibilities for ingredients, formulation ownership, confidentiality, packaging, quality release and dispatch. Discuss MOQ and lead time only in the context of the proposed product.
